Its accessible. Counsellors have little or no waiting periods – access to counselling can be immediate with no GP referral required.
Counselling environments are welcoming and less clinical. Counsellors use a person-centred approach to counselling where the client’s needs are first and foremost and decisions and therapeutic interventions are delivered in collaboration with the client.
Counsellors are educated in the use of psychological theories that are utilized by most other mental health practitioners including psychologists & social workers
Registered counsellors achieve and maintain accreditation from the Australian Counselling Association by participating in continuous development and supervision.
